Context Awareness triggered by Multiple Perceptual Analyzers. In Emerging Artificial Intelligence Applications in Computer Engineering. Amsterdam: IOS Press; 2007. pp. 371–383. .
Abstract
A multitude of technologies from computer vision, acoustic signal analysis and natural language processing are used to implement multi-modal perceptual components. The output of this analysis is used to gain context awareness – a necessity when designing a computer-based service that interacts reactively and proactively with humans. This article describes the integration process and our experience in implementing one such information service, the “Memory Jog”, in a particular scenario where the computer system supports a group of journalists in their daily work.
