Statistical approaches for face analysis and visual perception for humanoid robots

Abstract:
Research centred on humans covers a wide variety of applications in science and technology. The first part of this talk introduces issues in the areas of face analysis, head pose estimation and human path planning. Challenges on visual perception for humanoid robots are discussed in the second part of the talk. Statistical analysis is emphasized as a tool for modelling the problem. Finally, contours are discussed as a source of information for outlining alternative solutions.
